• Specially made for hunters, the “Hunter’s Axe” is an impressive beauty made of the highest quality Swedish steel available. What is special about this axe is that it has a gently rounded & burnished “flay poll” for use when skinning an animal. You pull the hide with one hand at the same time you hit the “flay poll” of the axe between the hide & the flesh; stroke by stroke the hide will come off. An axe with an ordinary straight poll can easily damage the hide! The axe may also be used for chopping wood as well as meat! The bottom grip of the hickory handle is roughened which gives a steady grip even when one’s hands are wet or sticky. Due to it’s uniqueness, this axe received a special design award from the Swedish Society of Crafts & Design! Axe weighs 2 lb. & includes a grain leather sheath.

     Each axe head is hand-forged from special Swedish steel which is then honed, tempered, & annealed to the perfect hardness by the experienced Gränfors Bruk Swedish smiths who stamp their initials on the head, creating a one-of-a-kind masterpiece you’ll treasure for years to come.
